PRIPYAT PIANO CD Pripyat CD – The Zone of Chernobyl The Chernobyl nuclear disaster occurred in 1986. Due to the high levels of radioactivity, many people had to leave their homes forever. Pripyat is one of the biggest ghost towns in the world. In 2010 the composer Eliška Cílková decided to capture the beauty of this place. She realised that musical instruments can maintain their sounds for a long time, and began to look for abandoned pianos in Pripyat. She found nine instruments and visited each of them to make recordings. In 2012 she made a CD, „Pripyat piano,“ containing all the recordings from each place. The purpose of this project is to look at the area from the perspective of what it is, and not what it is not.. www.pripyatpiano.com

CHERNOBYL ZONE SOUND ART The main idea of this project is to enable others to experience the zone from different points of view, rather than solely in connection with the infamous nuclear accident.www.soundsofchernobylzone.com
